Specialist Chockfast Installation for a Marine Power Take-Off Unit

Industrial Marine Solutions (IMS) recently completed a specialist engine PTO chocking project aboard the MV Casablanca, carrying out a precision realignment followed by the installation of Chockfast epoxy resin to provide a permanent, high-strength foundation.
The Challenge
Following the successful realignment of the engine Power Take-Off unit, the next stage required the equipment to be securely chocked to maintain its precise position under operational loads.
The confined working area presented an additional challenge, with narrow gaps requiring careful planning to ensure the resin could be placed accurately without compromising the quality of the installation.
Our Solution
The IMS team began by accurately positioning the PTO unit before constructing dams around the installation area, preparing it for the Chockfast resin pour.
Due to the restricted access in several sections, the resin was transferred into a smaller container, allowing a controlled and precise pour into the dammed areas. This careful approach ensured complete coverage while maintaining the required tolerances throughout the installation.
Once cured, the Chockfast resin forms a high-strength, permanent chock that securely locks the PTO unit into position, providing excellent load transfer and long-term reliability.
The Result
The completed installation delivers a secure, accurately aligned foundation for the engine PTO unit, helping maintain optimum equipment performance while reducing the risk of movement or misalignment during operation.
