FAQs

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available on each individual product page on our website. If you can't find what you need, get in touch and we'll send it over directly.

Absolutely. Full technical data sheets, including mix ratios, operating temperature ranges, and step-by-step application instructions, are available on each product page. If you need anything beyond what's listed, our team is happy to help.

This depends on the product. Here's a breakdown of the formats you may come across:

Chockfast products: Two possible formats

010519-111 reads as: resin side manufactured on 01/05/2019

XXXXMMYY format: XXXX is the part indicator and batch number (e.g. SG11 = Chockfast Red SG, Batch 11), MM is the month, YY is the year

If you're unsure about a specific product, feel free to contact us and we'll help you identify it.

Bonding to low surface energy plastics such as Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), and Delrin (acetal/POM) is generally not recommended without specialist surface preparation, and in most cases, our standard resin products are not suitable for direct adhesion to these materials. That said, some products in our range do offer compatibility with certain plastics when the correct preparation steps are followed.

If you're working with these materials, we'd recommend getting in touch before you proceed. We can advise on whether there's a suitable product for your application and what, if any, preparation would be required.

Cure times and temperature ranges vary by product and are detailed on each product's technical data sheet, available on our website. As a general guide, most of our compounds require a minimum ambient temperature during installation, typically around 10–15°C, and full mechanical strength is usually achieved within 24 hours, though this can vary with temperature and compound type.

For critical applications, we'd always recommend consulting the full data sheet or speaking with us directly to make sure conditions are right before you begin.

Proper surface preparation is one of the most important factors in achieving a good result. Requirements differ between products and substrates, but in general you should expect to:

  • Remove all oil, grease, and contaminants.
  • Ensure surfaces are dry and within the recommended temperature range before application.

Full preparation guidelines are included in each product's technical data sheet. For our Chockfast range in particular, we can also provide installation guidance and technical support.

Yes. As well as supplying product, we work with a team of experienced, self-employed technicians who can carry out installations on your behalf. We cover the UK and can support international projects. Wherever the job is, we're well placed to help.

If you'd like to discuss installation support for an upcoming project, give us a call or drop us a message and we'll talk you through what's involved.

Lead times and minimum order quantities vary depending on the product and the volume required. Pricing is agreed on a per-order basis, taking into account your specific requirements.

For an accurate lead time and delivery estimate for your order, please get in touch directly, and we'll come back to you promptly.

Most of our products should be stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Shelf life varies by product and is stated on the packaging and in the technical data sheet.

It's worth checking the date of manufacture when products arrive on site (see the relevant question above that answers how to read lot numbers). If you have any concerns about the condition of a product before use, contact us before proceeding.

Our resin range is widely used with steel, cast iron, and aluminium, as these are among the most common substrates in both marine and industrial applications. Compatibility with coatings and surface treatments depends on the specific product and application.

Known incompatibilities and any special considerations are detailed in the relevant technical data sheet. If you're unsure whether a product is right for your substrate or existing coatings, we're happy to advise before you commit to a purchase.

Of course, this is something we're well set up to help with. Our team has deep experience across marine and industrial applications, and we regularly support customers with product selection, technical guidance, and application specifications. For more complex projects, we can work with you to make sure the right product is specified correctly from the outset.

Yes. Chockfast products are approved by the major classification societies that govern commercial vessel construction and maintenance, including Lloyd's Register, DNV, and ABS. This means you can use our products with confidence in applications where classification compliance is a requirement.

If you need to confirm approval status for a specific product or classification society, we can provide documentation on request.

Our products are manufactured to consistently high standards by ITW Performance Polymers and have a proven track record across demanding marine and industrial environments. Specific warranty terms vary by product; details are available in the relevant product documentation.

For installation work carried out by our technicians, please speak with us directly about the scope of the job and the guarantees that apply. We'd rather have that conversation upfront than leave anything unclear.

We have worked with UK resins for many years now. They supply an excellent service to us, sometimes at short notice. They have carried a range of different applications for us on ships from stern tube sealing to engine and winch seats. All the teams that have attended our site have a great knowledge of the products and always see the job through, we’ve had a few late nights over the years. Anytime we have any issues with a customer who is unsure of what they need, Ron and team are at the end of the phone helping us find a solution.
